Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Let the rain kiss you. Let it beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
— Langston Hughes

We all know the saying, “April showers bring May flowers”, right? Today we are highlighting all positive things rain related…raindrops, water, umbrellas, and, of course, the flowers that come after! Scroll on down for beautiful projects by Riikka, Ksenia, and Tanya!

“I started thinking about the Melange Art Pebbles the moment I read raindrops. I love those little pebbles! They make perfect raindrops or dewdrops, but they can also be turned into pearls, screw heads or even eyes. They are so versatile and now come in many designs and colors, too.

For this project I mixed the plain Melange Art Pebbles with the Diamond ones and coated the whole project with them. I also added some of the little ones on top of the flowers like small droplets. To add to the watery effect, I treated the edges of the canvas using the new Liquid Acrylic. I first painted them, then rubbed a lot of the paint off and lastly added diluted paint here and there for a watercolor like effect.  “ ~ Riikka

“I love rain. I like how the drops flow on the glass. I like to listen to rain music. Rain ... It washes away memories. Only you stay. I really miss spring rain. Nature washes before the riot of colors.” ~ Ksenia

"Golden Coast is the perfect collection for my altered Umbrella. I used an umbrella picture from my Silhouette as a guideline to cut the shapes. I cut them on some inexpensive paper first to get the right size. This umbrella is quite small it measures (20 cm x 20 cm x 15 cm).  I cut some seahorses from chipboard and painted them with white gesso, I then added some FABULOUS sparkly Finnabair Unicorn paste...wow it is truly AMAZING I think it might be my new favourite paste! I painted the handle of the umbrella the same way and the back piece with metallique paint in vintage rose. I added a pretty little bow with a flamingo trinket to the handle. I then decorated the centre of the umbrella with some lace, fussy-cut crabs from the collection, die-cuts, chipboard stickers, ephemera, resins and stunning flowers." - Tanya
